Women

Portstewart Baptist Church has a thriving women's ministry whose aims are threefold:

1. To encourage the women of PBC, wherever they may be on their spiritual journey, so that we are all challenged and committed to change in our lives – transformation through the power of the gospel.
2. To reach out to women in our community with the good news of how the gospel can change their lives.
3. To support our missionaries - in prayer and in practical ways - as they share the gospel in other situations and other cultures.

Here are some of the ways in which we seek to accomplish these goals:

1. The Women of PBC

• Prayer events, where we can take extended time to pray for ourselves and for others.
• Practical support of those in need, whether a woman who has been recently bereaved or a woman in some other kind of difficult situation.
• We are starting a telephone prayer chain soon for the whole church.
• We have a ministry among our women called 'Secret Angels' whereby each participant commits to pray daily for another woman and provide encouragement to her for the course of a year.
• We have women who are involved principally in Worship and are seeking to encourage a greater sense of worship among the women of PBC.        

2. The Women of our community

• Special events when we invite women of the community to join us for an evening of fun, relaxation and sharing.
• Some women at PBC also run GriefShare, a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. This is for people in our community as well as for the people of PBC.

3. Women in Missions
We support women from PBC who have gone overseas on missions work, as well as Baptist missionaries from other churches. Some ways we have done this are:

• by inviting them to tell us about their mission
• holding prayer suppers for them
